Benefits Waiting Period
« on: September 05, 2012, 03:11:12 PM »
If you have a waiting period before benefits (such as health insurance) begin for new hires, how long is your waiting period?  Do you also use the same waiting period for KRS enrollment?  (KRS calls it "probationary status.")  Thanks.

Our waiting period for insurances is 30 days.  KRS is effective upon appointment.

Our benefits are effective 30 days after hire date.  KRS after 1 year - we just recently changed this...previously it was 6 months.  If the employee is coming directly from another participating agency, then there is no waiting period for KRS.

Our benefits waiting period is the first of the month following the 30th day.  Our KRS waiting period is 90 days, which is the same for holiday, vacation and sick eligibility.
