Has anyone developed a Social Media/Networking Policy since the training session we had at the Spring Conference?  If so would you mind sharing it?

Does anyone track their employees using GPS on a company issued cell phone?  If so, can you call me (502-266-6084) or email me (tina.snyder@ky.gov) information on your policy?

Thanks

Good Morning!

It was nice seeing everyone at the Spring Conference, I just went through and made my "to-do" list from all the sessions.  Honestly, I think they cause more stress from all the thoughts generated.  Smiley

Kind of hard to imagine, but in a few months we will begin preparing for the Fall Conference, to be held in Dale Hollow, and the Hospitality Group was curious what type of raffle items you prefer?  We tend to always stick with what we think is of interest but would like to know of some different ideas and are always up for suggestions (such as the gardening basket - sorry Tina)!   Sad

Please let us know!

Thanks - hope you have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

We are preparing to contract many of our services out, as we downsize via attrition as part of our restructuring process.  I would be greatly appreciative of any sample RFP specs you could send me.  My email is
woodwardld@owensboro.org .   Namely, we are in need of sample RFPs on:

All insurances, including but not limited to, health, life, STD/LTD, supplemental, workers comp, property, liability, vehicle

FMLA and Light Duty Administration (i.e., case mgmt)

Benefits Administration

Safety/Health Administration

Drug/Alcohol Administration

Any others you have of interest.

Thank you, Danielle Woodward, City of Owensboro.

We are looking at changing our cell phone policy.  How does your agency handle cell phones? Do you:

1. Evaluate who requires one for their job?
2. Do you pay them a flat rate every month and tax that, with the understanding that the employee use their own cell phone or they purchase another one? Do you require proof that they have a phone?
3. Do you take your current cell phone bill and analyze a month or two for personal use and add that amount to their taxable fringe benefit?
4. Any other way you handle cell phones?

Thanks for all of your comments.  I will ask this again at the Conference in two weeks...See you there!

KPHRA members (in particular, employers participating in the CERS with Kentucky Retirement Systems and municipalities):

Do you have any kind of Buy-out program to expedite retirements, to help downsize?  If so, please explain.  I can be reached at 270-687-8545; fax 270-687-8548; email: woodwardld@owensboro.org

Thank you,

Danielle Woodward

Yes, I have been contacted by a company wanting to come in and audit our WC.  I also questioned it and found out that they work on a percentage of what they would recover for you. Basically what I was told is that they'll attempt to move personnel into different job positions to try and lower the WC liability.

Has anyone ever been contacted or has anyone ever used a cost recovery company that comes in and audits your WC to see if errors have been made so you can request a refund from your WC carrier?  If so what are your thoughts on this?

Does anyone offer license or certification awards, in monetary form?  If so, is it a flat amount no matter how many licenses or certificates employees have or do you give a dollar amount for each one?  And, do you provide them to non-exempt only or do both non-exempt and exempt receive the award?

Some of our employees who are on snow removal detail questioned the amount of time they were allowed to drive under DOT rules.  Do any of you know of any rules or do any of you have a policy on the amount of time an employee can drive while on duty?   I know the FMCSA have rules for interstate driving but I can't seem to find anything about local driving.
